No internet earlier so I was out painting on this glorious morning. In for a cuppa - builder's brew for me. 'Nae cat's p***h' as we say here image   Punjana - nice and strong, although I could be persuaded with Yorkshire Tea which I had recently when I'd run out and bought that. Very, very good image

BL - they're repeating Monty's Italian Garden prog on Sunday mornings here - don't know if you can get that there, or on i player maybe? You've possibly seen it anyway. Beautiful. Enjoy your trip. Italy's such a glorious place.

The times they are a-changing indeed chick. Someone should write a song about that...imageimage

Loads of trees changing colour here too, but a nice spell of weather to come so it will be great for outdoor work. Nicer to work in when it's a bit cooler, but warm enough to sit. For me anyway.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Not very exciting though BM. Just lots of sawing and joining really! Perhaps I might get more 'gardening' done next year once I've finished all the fences and gates etc. Slow progress when I'm working and have other commitments too so it's a bit frustrating, but I'll get there some day...if my weary old body doesn't pack in first...imageimage

I may have to tackle the removal of the big white buddleia soon as it's really finished flowering now. That will take a while - wonder if I'll need another saw...lost count of how many I've gone through! image

I inherited a  bench here which needs a bit of sanding and re painting too - it's more shabby than shabby chic just now image

I've had every sort of saw in that s***ing diy store BM image I used to have a jigsaw but It was knackered and I didn't replace it. That would have helped a bit.  Think there's a pic of part of the skanky bench on Garden Gallery recently, when I posted some pix of butterflies on the white buddleia. I had the bench underneath it to get a bit of shade in hot weather. I'm currently using it for cutting and painting battens for the screen. Its going to be the  same colour...image

Now where did I put that broom....image

Have to have proper gravy. Veg (onions, carrots) in the roasting tray under the meat with a little water or stock. Drain the liquid off when the roast's done, get the tray on the hob and caramelise the onions with a spoonful of the fat from the removed juices, bit of flour to make a roux, cook it out, add the stock and let it thicken then strain off into a jug to serve, or into a pan to reduce down if you like it thicker. Job's a good 'un.

If it's beef - wait till it's cooked and out, and then just add some veg to what's in the roasting tin and colour it up a bit and then go from there with the roux and stock.
