Hi Lesley, welcome back and sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he gets better quickly and is soon home again.
Was it Crete you went to or another Greek Island (sorry memory like a sieve!) I'm on serious countdown now....talking of which.....
Lily, I didn't get to the GC, instead I ended up buying new Fitflop flip flops for my holidays, that I have been wanting for a while....I decided that seen as I live in flip flops and my croc ones have had it (I blame them for the fall) I needed some better ones with proper support, well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! They are lovely but no money left for plants this week
Gorgeous pigeon Yvie, I'm sure he will be very happy in his new home
He's gorgeous Yvie. I have read your posts about Homer (not Homer) and felt so sorry for him. How on earth did you manage to catch him? Hope his owner appears soon.
Hi Lesley hope you enjoyed Corfu, bet it's a distant memory now. Hoping your dad recovers well
Yvie well done, did you throw a blanket over it? I'm sure owner will be happy that you've saved it
OL a lady can't have too many flip flops and Crocs are slippery in the wet when you wear the tread off them, I know I've lots of worn out pairs
Currently waiting for the delivery of a petrol mower for my brother, firm don't deliver to his area so it's coming here, might have to go in our dining room until Saturday as garage and shed are full
My slow typing made me miss you there OL. Glad you've sorted your footwear out - not long to go now.
Yes KEF it was Corfu but we flew there to start a cruise round the Adriatic. Venice was stunning and we sailed down the Grand Canal with musicians playing Italian classics on board. Just magical
Thanks for the good wishes for my Dad - he loves all the attention
Welcome back Lesley - hope your Dad's better soon.
Hope Not Homer finds his own Pigeon Loft soon.
Well, I'm back from the swish re-modelled offices - a total re-fit, walls moved, new carpets, new kitchen, new electrics and a dishwasher in the kitchen!!! Interesting how they waited for me to leave before doing all that - I told them they should have said they were waiting for me to go - I'd have gone sooner
I've cleared out the pear tree bed of oxe eye daisies, added 4 trugbuckets full of FYM and one of grit, turned it all in, and planted the Roscoeas I got from long acre plants, and three blue poppies , and two hellebores that were hanging around. Its not the planting that takes the time, just the preparation of the soil.
Hope the pigeon gets a loving home soon. The man I knew that kept racing pigeons, said if they couldn't find their way home they were no use and for the chop.
If the owner doesn't want it back, maybe you could keep him. He seems happy at your place.
Got exciting deliveries today. A new waterproof with longer sleeves and a bit lighter too so that means we should look forward to an extended dry spell
Also got 5 testers for different colours for my arch Went for White Daisy (didn't look true white on interweb), Pale Jasmine (kind of creamy colour), Coastal Mist (a pale blue), Beaumont Blue (a greeny blue) and Purple Slate (a purpley grey). Pa Panda is on his way over with some wood so I can test them out. Will keep you posted with a decision

Afterwards I dropped into the nearby Wyevale GC with my £4 of vouchers - they expire at the end of August so they had to be spent. I fell in love with Buddleja Miss Ruby http://mygarden.rhs.org.uk/blogs/graham_rice/archive/2011/09/18/buddleja-miss-ruby-new-award-winner-from-gardening-express.aspx It is absolutely gorgeous with a capital 'G' - the one I bought is having its second flush of blooms and they're beginning to 'go over', turning a gorgeous mixture of violet and magenta - fabulous.
I have absolutely nowhere to put it
I'll either have to dig another bed or move some things around this autumn
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thanks Dove. Sounds as though you had a good day
. Miss Ruby is really striking. I think you should dig another bed

Evening all. Another lazy day here, due to bugs and weather.
Have had a nice time looking through seed catalogues, to plan next year, and choosing bulbs for Spring.
Need to decide what to do for tea, with some rather nice looking lamb cutlets.
Glad you had a good holiday Lesley.
Hope the workers have survived, have a good evening everybody.
