Just mesmerised by a family of sparrows learning to drink/have a bath on the patio birdbath, just 5 feet away from me. They are hilarious. Two have fallen off - three fell in and couldn't get to the side fast enough. It's less than a foot off the ground so no harm done. I could be here all day
They are very funny to watch Lesley. We had a big pond at last house with a group of Kilmarnock willows and a hedge at the far end which they nested in. On late spring/early summer mornings we could sit in the conservatory and watch them flock to the shallow, beached end nearest us, all shouting and flapping and splashing. Then they'd disappear as quickly as they came still making a huge noise!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
We had a huge storm around 10pm last night. Lost electricity for 3 short periods, but met a friend at church this morning whose house was flooded. A lot cooler and fresher now.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi everyone, looks like you all had a great day garden visiting yesterday. Congratulations Woody. Just popped to GC for a post bracket to hang basket on (looking after my daughters while they are on hols) hadnt got any but a bird feeding station and a Miscanthus Sinensis 'Gold Bar' leapt into my car. Despite all the storms and downpours its still very hot and humid here but thankfully the storms didnt do much damage to the garden, Lavender needed some tlc put that was all really. Hope everyone enjoys their sunday
Baby sparrows always remind me of daft puppies, going around testing everything- trying to eat my string etc! They are a lovely sight, i just wish they wouldnt squabble so much!
Oooh, I love a roast beef dinner - but I'll have to pass on it today because this morning I rubbed a chicken with EVOO, seasoned it, and put a quartered lemon in the cavity then popped it in the slow cooker with fresh tarragon and a quartered green garlic bulb (grown by OH )
We'll have it this evening with good bread, home made mayo and some salad leaves from the garden.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
