Morning all. Although I love England best and get periods of homesickness, it is great living in France. Houses and land are so much cheaper. There is so much more land. So I'm very lucky having some land for horses. That means a horse is cheaper to keep than a dog! Riding lessons are cheaper that in the UK too. I was amazed when my sister told me the price at how expensive they are in England. I had a private lesson for well over an hour for about £20.

Dove, cantering figures of 8 is not easy, horse has to do flying change of leg in the middle so has to be perfectly balanced.

Enough of that! This is a gardening forumimage Will be spreading manure (free, horse!) on veggie garden today. May sow tomato seeds.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I know, it's a Saturday and I'm 'up' before 10! Not sure what happened there image

It's a bit breezy sounding outside, looks like we're getting the wind that you Northern lot had yest image

Am pleased to see my forsythia is flowering again. It was very overgrown so last year a friend and I hacked at it to reduce it somewhat in size. I did worry for a bit that we'd killed it but am happy to report new growth and flowers image We need to do the same to the Japanese Quince (I think that's what it is, it has red blossom like Chicky's) but I've probably missed my chance now it's flowering too.

It's a claw decorating day for me, just in time for the party Mrs G image (hope it goes well!) And then I'm meeting Ma Panda in town for a spot of lunch and shopping image

Panda - once the flowers are over the japanese quince responds well to a good bit of hacking.  Ours was a tree when we arrived here, but it was in the way of ladder access to our chimney (don't ask, long storyimage) so OH felled it.  It has come back beautifully as a multi stemmed shrub.

the prunings take well as cuttings too (someone in Flooded Gardens might like oneimage)

Oh Stacey, how heart breaking. I have a friend whose horse went lame when she qualified to ride at the Burghley Horse Trials, but that's nothing like as bad. I wasn't brave enough for eventing.

I'm in the middle of muck spreading, but came in for a wee!
