  • Back from concert. Gregory was wonderful. Same songbook but lots of variations.  Shorter , at 75 minutes than last time so shorter instrumental solos and more singing. Arena full of committed fans, so lots of singing along.

Courtney Pine was very disappointing. More reggae than jazz, in fact no jazz at all.

Other acts which impressed were James Torme, ( son of Mel) Christian McBride Trio, and Cecelia Stalin ( yes, Stalin) She is the only English one on this list altho' James Torme spent much of his childhood in Sussex.

Brilliant day, all round though, good weather, no rain, good food offers.

Night all, just a quickie to remind you im still around...busy at home and new job is great. We went to Berlin for weekend, red hot 30' enjoyed it but should have been watching tour de Sheffield, in walking distance of home (a long but manageable walk). Saw some tonight which we had recorded but not the most local to us, did see jenkin hill on tv which is soooo steep and I used to work at the top of the road, only place I've ever abandoned my car in the snow.

Garden looks fine for a few days neglect, a couple of clematises turning brown though - anyone any advice?

    Night all.

Berlin was good chicky, strange places of interest to 'enjoy' what with the history, you almost feel guilty having a good time, the monument for the murdered Jews was so thought provoking in so many ways. Germany celebrations of the football win was mad! Car horns blasting all down the main streets in the centre, people sitting on the car roof and through the sunroof, more what you'd expect if they'd won the final!
