  • Alan T doesn't so much "love" the gardens as have a one night stand with them image. May give a brief thrill, but an ongoing relationship is much more rewarding imageimage

    We can but wish,Annie.

  • Watched AT last night, building a garden for a war hero (a more deserving recipient would be hard to imagine)......but oh dear, talk about splashing the cash, the robot lawnmower alone had a price tag of £2,500.

I suppose in terms of the required expenditure to film an hour’s prime time TV, the cost may be justified. Having said that, I feel last night’s show must have cost in the region of £100k for hard landscaping alone.

Have you noticed that everything they put in is flowering? Stuff that in my experience doesn't flower together and if you had a garden like that, you would have one month of splendour then nothing the rest of the year.  I am constantly told by friends that I am eccentric because I don't have a colour scheme or theme, the thing is I like it that wayimage

It was the £6K water feature, and the jigsaw of the park that got me! (and that would last 5 years! And all the hydrangeas being put very close together.

I quite agree with everything that's been written so far, but it did get me thinking. What would I do with a spare £20K.(yeah right, spare??)

I would treat myself to a new lawn but at the moment it a 'hard' labour of love

I woiuld treat myself to a new shed, complete with luxuries like electricity.

Would I get a designer or two in to help. Don't know. Would it then be his/hers garden with my agreement??

What about you?? What would you do??
