  • The Ego has landed-on Friday nights -_-
  • What a crying shame.
Monty-Land revisited then eh? The BBC just don't get it, haven't learnt & so the viewing figures will slip away further still eventually. It will probably look good initially but will soon slide into "veg & Monty way only land" - again.
Alan had it so right. He was watchable, interesting & knowledgeable goddamit. On the Monty show any other poor soul who dared to differ with comment or idea was simply talked across or verbally dis-missed, as has been mentioned so many many times on this forum. Monty is simply not liked as much as Toby & co & that's been mentioned many many times also.
Are we the viewers not putting it simply enough for the BBC maybe?
Maybe if this forum gets read by the right people it will be understood, i do hope so, sooner rather than later.
Two differing gardening style programmes would be an excellent idea, bet i know which one would attract the most viewers!!
  • Cried as i cancelled my G.W. mag & removed Gardeners World from my t.v favourites link for recording. There is no point tho as i won't enjoy it with monty don.
PLEASE BBC PUT IT RIGHT & BRING BACK TOBY.
Or let us vote or put someone there that we all want & like & can watch & learn from i.e. Carol Klein/Chris Beardshaw xxxxxxxx
  • glad to hear m,d coming back, i found toby's voice very boring,he didnt inspire me at all, also glad you've kept carole on the show, i didnt watch much of the last series, but will be sky plussing this one!!
  • bring back Toby and Alys they got better and better as time went on. What happened to the garden they were developing. Why cant' both gardens be shown to get different perspectives and ideas ?

I agree with Violet bring them back BBC I have been watching for years and also subscribe to the mag I will think seriously of not bothering with both
  • Way to go Violet. I think you pretty summed up the nations thoughts.
  • Just found out Monty Dom and the old team are back. They are the best. Cant wait. xx
  • I for one am very glad Monty is returning to what he know - gardening, and moving away from things he doesn't - farming. After dispensing some truly dreadful and irresponsible advice on My Dream Farm on Channel 4 I hope he has learned his lesson and will steer well clear of advising on agriculture and leave this to the experts!!!
  • So pleased to have you back Monty - welcome back and good luck
  • Farmer, posting no. 880. I wish he'd leave gardening to the experts too. He clearly is not one of them.
I remember him telling us to plant bearded irises " 6 inches deep" at which point I shouted at the TV " and watch it rot!"
Rachel's " expertise" seems to consist of a career as a dancer / model followed by a one year course at The English Gardening School.
Presumably both had useful contacts at BBC.
I too have cancelled my magazine subscription. I could ignore one page of Monty Don, but I can only imagine he's going to misleading us on more pages from now on.
