So good to hear from a contemporary, Bill. I will be 86 next August and born and bred in Scotland. Used to watch international ladies hockey matches at Paisley High school and had a great aunt and uncle in Glasgow who took me to the theatre a lot.
And still gardening too. Good longevity genes come from Scotland. My father was still tending his pelargoniums at 91. My sister emigrated to Canada (Calgary, then Edmonton and now in New Brunswick so I know quite a bit about your winters!
I didn't know this thread existed, Here's Cornus Westonbirt
The big one in the middle is a couple of years old while the one on the right was a bare root whip last spring. The plant on the left is Amelanchier 'Snowflake'. The Autumn colour was better last year because we got a frost at the end of August but I think you'll agree Cornus Westonbirt is worth a couple of pound per whip. BTW the big one in the middle is just one plant 2 or no more than three years old.
Tidied up in the conservatory today and I now have summer flowers and next spring flowers to cheer me indoors as well as the autumn colour which is still splendid out in the garden.
