Love your plants @pitter-patter I bought two in M&S but they don't put the name of the plants on the label so I haven't a clue what they are. Maybe someone here will know.
The tradescantia is “Nanouk” it’ll need to be tough if it’s to survive with me!
It's like other tradescantia and has a tendency to wander. I find it's best to take regular cuttings to keep it compact and then just replace it once the cuttings fill a pot. They root well in water so I just add them to cut flower displays on the window sill.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Hi, @Fran IOM. They are very nice, but require different care. The first one is probably calathea rufibarba (is it velvety to the touch?) and the second is a sanseveria - probably trifasciata laurentii.
I constantly take cuttings from my tradescantia. Nanouk has lovely foliage, but it doesn’t trail as harmoniously as zebrina, it seems to develop thicker stems.
I have a few houseplants; most of the succulents I water very sparingly. Otherwise, they keep dying on me. Edited to add: most of the succulents came as tiny cuttings, a quid each, at £land.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Your cactus @Eustace in the second picture looks incredibly healthy. It’s a lovely rich green colour. My cactus never looks like that. What’s your secret?
