Houseplants 2024

pitter-patterpitter-patter Posts: 2,429
I know these houseplant threads don’t seem to be very popular, but I thought I could try again. I love my houseplants and they give me great joy, especially in the winter, when there’s not much happening in the garden. Unfortunately, I’m not very good at taking pictures of them, but I’m willing to learn. It’s also a good time to start propagating them, so this could be a place where we can share tips and tricks.

I’m useless. Can’t seem to make anything thrive indoors. Love the look and feel of having plants inside the house but hate the constant battle to find something I can’t kill.

We can’t seem to be able  grow any indoor plants @Jacquimcmahon either ☹️ We have tried  and tried over the years but don't  have the indoor green fingers at all. My SIL  however, is very successful with her indoor plants, she used to have one like in the picture. Wish I knew her secret.
At the moment I have two cacti,  one nabbed from my mum’s house before she went into a Care Home( so desperate to keep it alive) and a Christmas cactus which is looking dreadful. Have tried quite a few times with the latter but they always end up dying on me. I shall follow this thread with interest. Thanks for starting  it.🙂

People who think I'm good with houseplants don't see all the ones I have to throw away. 😐
    In London. Keen but lazy.

@Jacquimcmahon Are you finding that the problem is with overwatering or underwatering? Or light issues maybe?

Putter Patter to be honest it seems to be everything, add in cats that like to play with certain ones and that in France your house insurance expects your roller blinds to be down whenever you are out…. So daytime as well as nighttime darkness if no one is home! I hate fakes but honestly I’m tempted!

That’s does sound like a very difficult situation for plants to grow.
