Pruning Group 3 and Group 2 Clematis where the first buds are pretty high up

    That makes a lot of sense @Fairygirl, I will bear all that in mind. So really I can just leave that Group 2 now, if I am understanding right. Thinking about it, last year I pruned the Group 2 quite a lot in spring, which might have caused the poor show of flowers I got last year. I now realise I shouldn't have done that, oops. Let's hope this year will be better ...
  • SALLY is not Group 3, it is Group 2.

  • I do not think that your first 2 pictures are clematis Sally as it is described as 1 to 1.5 metres

    There is a montana called SALLY, are you sure your plant is not that ?  It looks very vigorous.

    I think I originally thought it was a Sally Evipo 077 because I found a label for it, which I thought belonged to that plant. It does look like one in terms of the pink flowers. Hmm you have got me thinking now ...

    I don't think it's montana Sally, as the montana's petal shape does not match up with mine.
