Chiltern Seeds, Kings Seeds, Moles are all good. Mr Fothergills and DT Brown appear to be the same company with slight differences on the board, though past experience suggests they have minor differences in what they sell.

Another vote for Premier Seeds.  Especially good selection of tomato seeds.

I've ordered my Pink Fir Apple seed potatoes and a few other bits from RHS Plants. Other seeds from Mr Fothergills. My winter Potatoes were a distaster because of the constant rain Nov/DEc so hoping a spring planting will do the trick
Surely you weren’t growing potatoes outdoors in the winter?

I agree with Waterbut regarding quantity in each packet for instance on the variety of Brussels that I grow Sutton's only put 8 seeds to a packet. Just not economic to grow them at the price and quantity that they are marketing. I have got the majority of my vegetable seeds from Moles and Medwyn. I ordered my Moles just after Christmas and they were delivered the next day. My wife has bought her tomato and flower seeds from the main suppliers T&M, Suttons Fothergils etc when they have reduced them to £1 or 89p per packet which they have all done again this year.

I heartily recommend a UK company who test and produce their own seeds. There’s lots of helpful info about veg growing on their site too. (I don’t think they do potatoes though)

I agree with Whiterot as I forgot to mention it was Sutton’s I bought my 8 Chilli seeds from. Does this mean they only put 8 seeds in all their seed packets?

  • @Whiterot and @Waterbut you do not say what variety of chilli you bought ( or brussels ). have no experience of growing latter but it is not at all unusual for tomato and chilli F1 varieties to contain 8-10 seeds per packet due to combination of patent and nature of the way seeds need to be harvested. I think for most seeds suttons discloses on the website approx contents ( although you may need to look at the online pic of the packet reverse).
Kindness is always the right choice.

I can only grow Cryprus as I have club root on my plot. I have 2 packets of Suttons Cryprus brussels seeds from last year with and i quote 8 seeds  printed on the packet bought at £1 or less. With this in mind I bought from Medwyn for this year with 20 seeds per packet. I have spent the last half hour looking up the various seed companies for this particular brussel re number of seeds currently on offer Medwyn 20 seeds at £4.10, Fothergills 20 seeds at £4.15, T&M 8 seeds at £4.99 and believe it or not Suttons at £4.99 for 35 seeds. This maybe a web mistake or maybe Suttons read Gardener's World Vegetable blog? but don't hold your breath if you are expecting 35.
