Bulbs in the green - snowdrops and bluebells - when do they start selling them? and where to buy

Pink678Pink678 Posts: 498
I'm planning to buy bulbs in the green for the first time next year - snowdrops and bluebells.
Does anyone know when online places start selling them?
I signed up for an email alert on one place but I'd quite like to know when it might be ...
I was also wondering if bulbs in the green are generally OK bought online, or is there any particular retailer you would suggest?
Thanks very much.

They’ll sell snowdrops at the end of February to March.
Bluebells bloom in May so I suppose some time after that.  I’ve never bought any.

  • They’re available straight after they’ve flowered.

I’ve bought loads from this place

Absolutely reliable and reputable in my experience.

You can order in advance and they’ll send them when they’re available.

I checked out the snowdrops at Broadleigh Gardens - there are so many different varieties to choose from with some really beautiful ones I have not seen before. I like the look of their starter packs too.

Agree Broadleigh are top notch especially for special named bulbs./but they are not cheap.

If you want quantities of ordinary snowdrops Galanthus nivalis /or double flowered ones then Eurobulbs are excellent.
They are field grown in UK,  dug up and dispatched Jan/Feb.
Over the years I have bought many 1,000 of snowdrops and been delighted with quality/cost.
Plant in small clumps of 3/5/7 bulbs...takes no time at all to plant 1,000
Look out for adverts in newspapers/magazines or Google after New Year.

Joe at Monksilver is a snowdrop specialist. He has a catalogue of a wide range of snowdrops. Email him if looking for a particular type.
