  • Good morning allĀ  :) ā˜•ļøĀ

Glad you got home eventually @rowlandscastle444  … one’s own bed is always best, all other things being equal šŸ‘Ā

I was chilly in the night and got up to make a hot drink and put another layer on the bed. It took me a while to get back to sleep. Thankfully the only job I have planned today is a trip to the farm shop this morning … I don’t think I’ve ever woken in the night because I was cold … certainly not in this house … and it certainly wasn’t freezing outside .., think it was about 4C. I hope I’m not coming down with something šŸ¤žĀ

    Morning all.
Sorry you woke feeling chilly in the night Dove, perhaps your OH had pinched more than his share of the duvet and left you feeling a bit chilled.
Safe journey home @Busy-Lizzie, hope you find all is well at your Norfolk home.
Has anyone heard from @Hostafan1, surely it shouldn't take this long for the installation? What is he doing for heating/warmth at the moment poor Hosta?
Blue sky and sun here this morning, had almost forgotten what it looks like, but heavy showers are forecast later it seems.

Glorious sunshine here, although lots of cloud bubbling up. A quiet day today, we are off tomorrow to Oxford for the weekend, for daughter’s birthday. Not looking forward to the drive there, so will spend today putting together our bit of packing, clean at least the lights on the car, if not the whole thing, and OH can check the tyre pressures etc. So out of practice now, hard to believe I did a four hour return commute to work for a year, although that’s now nearly twenty years ago, so not really surprising. I still keep forgetting I’m not as young and fit as I was then!
  • Morning everyone,Ā  wet and miserable here again.Ā  Late start here as we were out last eve at a recording of Have I got news for you.Ā  It was in Hammersmith so a bit of a longer journey than usual.Ā Ā
We have to go washing machine shopping today. We called out an engineer yesterday who told us the repair would cost almost as much as a new one. For those interested full cost horror revealed on the curmudgeon thread.Ā  Just as well we have savings to fall back on.Ā

That was quite a commute you did @ergates!Ā  Good luck with your drive to your daughter's.Ā  I hate driving at this time of year - windows misting up, low sun getting in your eyes, not to mention those blessed LED headlamps that blind you in the dark.

How lovely to be in the audience for Have I Got News @Allotment Boy!

I did go out last night after all.Ā  A friend was going to the concert, so I went with her as OH not at all keen on going out two evenings in a row.Ā  It was fantastic!Ā  The concert was based on the book White is Black which is an autobiographical account of a French respiratory doctor's life and work - his wives, lovers, patients and who ended his career in Norwich... he was also a pianist.Ā  And funny.Ā  My friend and I were there to seeĀ  our musician friends (pianist and cellist) perform the considerable musical element of the narrated performance.Ā  The small auditorium was packed - but the audience was not the usual audience (arty types) for our friends.Ā  This audience was very well dressed and mostly older.Ā  It was only later we realised - they were all doctors!Ā  The show had been put together by someone who knew the author when he was alive and many of the people in the audience had been his colleagues when he was in Norwich.

@punkdoc- I think the author of the book was more like you!

I think cleaning products have a lot to answer for with regard to respiratory/skin/issues @Badly_Maintained.Ā  Who knows what chemicals are in them - and how those chemicals react with other chemicals in other products?Ā  We only go for eco-friendly cleaning products - or good old vinegar and soda or lemon.Ā  We don't think we need surgery-grade surfaces in our home!
