The Met are much better for specific local areas as they use more weather stations. The BBC source just give one reading for the whole of London, which is pretty useless - cheap but hopless.

All forecast temps re given for the air at 1.25m. The temp on the ground can be several degrees colder.

Might be the end for my lovely impatiens. 😕  Ahh well, I have some cuttings ... which are flowering already, so all is not lost.  Will pop the lobelia in the garage overnight and cover the osteospermums, then sit back and 🤞.

Would like a cool snap in Feb if possible, to reduce the slug population a bit for next yr.   Never seen so many as this summer.
  • I was out for the newspaper about 8am. It was certainly chilly here in north Kent.
Those of you further north must have felt it more!!

We are set to go down to 6C just before dawn on Sunday so I thought I might bring in the house plants that have been enjoying their summer hols outside.  However, that cold will last only an hour or two at most and we're then in double figures overnight for another week and, maybe, some rain.

They'll enjoy that so get another week outside but I have moved them to the sunnier front of house now and that's a few degrees warmer than the back.

It was 6C in north London last night (1.25m off the ground) which is certainly the lowest it's been since about May.

6C was our overnight minimum last night. Not very much lower than the long-term averages for October though - not here anyway. Maybe it is for London.

We had a light frost Thursday morning . Forecast 1C or 0C over the weekend to Tuesday morning . Think I'll risk leaving some tender out still and give them a fleece , suppose to warm up slightly mid week onwards .

It got down to 3 degrees last night( overnight) , it was mighty cold. It's supposed to be 3 degrees again tonight from 4am onwards. Winter duvet had gone on.
