He was a superb actor @LittleGreyRabbit … with an interesting and quite sad ‘backstory’. I’m so glad he gained some real recognition … he had such a conspiratorial twinkle in his eye … I’ve a feeling he’d have been very good company. OH ‘bumped’ into him once; he took the taxi OH was quitting … it’s just as well it wasn’t me, I’d have got back into the taxi and shared the journey with him so I could tell him how highly I rated his acting 😂

Coronation chicken pie for savoury but sweet depends on mood - lemon tart, Bakewell tart, tarte tatin.........

  • Then there is the whole debate about what defines a pie. For me it's a Pastry base and top.  If its just a Pastry top then it's merely a caserole with a Pastry lid......

I used to work with someone who, when we went out for lunch, would always ask whether the pie was "proper pie or just stew with a hat on" before he ordered.

When I answered on the first page all the pies were sweet so I chose Lemon pie. Now I have realised it could be a savoury pie so I will add Chicken and Leek. That's OH's favourite of the pies I make too. He likes it when I put pastry hearts and flowers on it !

I'm sure they only called it that because mince pie was already taken.
