Apple pie, the home made type where the apple is firm and cuts cleanly rather than goopy/runny. Shortcrust. With cinnamon. And ice cream.

When I was a girl my Dad was a veg grower and then grew soft fruits in the back garden. I remember raspberries and Tay berries, possibly redcurrants. Mam froze them as they came into season and ripened. She’d mix them together and bake a tart ( pastry top and bottom on a plate) Always known as red pie absolutely delicious both sweet and tangy. Thanks for prompting the memory.

Blackberry pie and custard, blackberries to be picked no more than 100 yards from the house.
    Rutland, England

    I'm a crumble person too.
Blackberry and apple (or apple and blackberry - I'm not fussy).
    With proper Birdseye custard.

I like lemon tart. Creamy, sharp yet sweet all at once. I like James Martin's recipe.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I once had a rabbit and cider pie at my local pub and it was the best thing I'd ever eaten. I went back a week later and ordered the same thing but it was just average. They always had problems with consistency there though.
No one ever made a better apple pie than my grandma. I wish she'd taught the secret to someone in our family before she died but she didn't even consider it note worthy.
