I bought some lovely tulips today too from a local store in town...
    Tulip Bakeri Lilac Wonder
    Tulip Upstar
and Tulip Little Beauty- plus of course some more Queen of the Night.
I was only looking for some dwarf iris!
All of the packs were £1.99p each. I think they'll make a lovely display.

Good choices! Lilac Wonder is reliably perennial (here, anyway - it's been growing and spreading for 30-odd years, helped out by the bulbs being inadvertently moved while they're dormant, when I'm moving other plants around - they don't seem to mind having other things growing in the same space after they've died back) and I have high hopes for Little Beauty, although I've only had that one for a couple of years.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

They being perennial is an added bonus. Thank you for the information @JennyJ.
  • Our Garden Club is having a talk on bulbs on Friday and there will be goodies to buy. Fingers crossed there's something unusual.

  • I don't know what part of London the OP is from but Jacques Armand in Stanmore N LONDON has a terrific range,  I  think they do mail order too.

It's good to see an article in Gardens Illustrated on tulips to perennialise - species and non-species.

    Hi @Fire,

I can vouch for Tulip Red Impression being perennial.

Originally planted under a very large oak tree, at least 10 years ago and still going strong. I've just bought another 30 to add to them.

I find the little 'uns Ballerina, Peppermint Stick, Tinka come back well, but they do like a lot more sun than the others or they lean
