  • I buy from Peter Nyssen  and like that they say they do not use  neonicotinoid pesticides. I heard today that Sainsbury's have lots of spring bulbs of various types in recently, but I have not had a chance to check further.

has anyone found that many sellers have a restricted range of tulips this year? Loads seem to be missing from the main sellers.... I wonder if this is to do with climate extremes this year and the last.

Yes I too think the varieties are fewer @Fire
I have started looking for a Narcissus , Bridal Crown, as it did so well last year and I would like to add more. My bulb company doesn't have it, and a couple of my local garden centres don't either, so not sure if I will find it.
  • I trust RHS Shop for bluebells. SR is up front that they're not selling natives, which is very helpful to those who are planting in woodland. I've had bad luck with other bluebells, they are hybrids.

I was happy with the collections I got from Sarah Raven — they have good ideas for combinations of tulips in a pot; the bulbs were large and performed very well

If anyone is looking to save money on their bulbs, it is worth hanging on until the end of the planting season and then looking for bargains as sellers offload the leftovers. Last year I got daffodils I would never have normally bought and I grew them just for cuttiing. They were gorgeous.

Nyssens always have Bridal Crown. I expect they'll have it this year.
It's a very common, popular variety - most diy places sell it, and usually s'markets and cheapo shops.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I always buy later in sales. By then autumn rain makes soil also moist enough to dig. I am in London though.
