Just a quick update to say that I never got any refund, any email from anyone, any apology from the dreadful CEO. Between my daughter's cancer, the loss of my job due to her care (I was working for a university) and all the problems one has when finds itself alone battling a 1,000 heads, I simply had to let go. I hope they rot in hell. Case closed.

@Sandra A I think you are right to let go for your own sanity! However it doesn't make any of this right. I will try to do a little by raising this thread in the future. Anyone else who can add comments please, please do. So many gardeners read but don't write on here spread the word and don't just hand them your money.

Sandra if you have a moment take a look on here for some positives you are a keen gardener and there is always something of interest or a comment that makes you smile.

I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Believe me, I often find myself reading posts. Plants are very much part of my identity.
I am trying to collect cuttings from house plants, because there are many days that I cannot even go to the garden.
But reading about all of you, your experiences, and sometimes the humour, it is a welcome distraction. And i just posted plants for swap, if anyone is interested :)
And thank you, Suze, the world has become very black and it feels like I am drowning. Hope our posts will help someone moving away from those scammers.

You're right to let it go @Sandra A . Sometimes it doesn't help to dwell on things. Hopefully anyone else who has a bad experience with them will post on here too.
Some better news, the baby Monstera that you sent me is doing well.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • I bought a semprvivum from Gardening Express earlier this year. No label on the box so I opened it upside down and the plant just fell apart. I tried to plant what was left of it and it died. No response to emails or contact forms on website.

Seems Gardening Express haven’t done any better,  I though some organisation was looking into the company,  seems not,  they’re still sending out rubbish and still removing negative reviews on Facebook,  all you see is the angry face smilies, they can’t remove those.

Try putting complaints on Trustpilot or something similar to warn others.

Yes, do use Trustpilot or similar. We've done it twice after receiving distinctly below standard products from companies who then refused to engage about a refund, and both times we got results. Companies hate bad reviews.

The other thing to consider is contacting Citizens Advice and/or Trading Standards
