If you leave them long enough they get charred in the airfryier too 🔥

I tried various things @B3, but the container is just too steamy to get a good result.
Probably just as well - it wouldn't be good for my waistline, such as it is.... ;)

An update on the air fryer.

Yes, I bought one last week.  As it was so hot here, I didn't start to use it until Saturday when we had some cooler weather.

First was chips made from scratch.  No salt but tossed them in a bag with some herbs of provence and a tablespoonful of oil.  Yes, I washed them and dried them well.  Result wasn't bad.  The ends were crispy but the middle was soft.  I cut them matchstick so they were small.

Today I had mackerel and courgettes.  Great!  The mackerel was moist and cooked but the courgettes need longer and I need to get used to it.

On the whole - I could get used to this quite easily!!

Thank you again for you input.  Stay safe.  Kia kaha.

Great to hear your feedback, @tui34. Always interesting to hear what other people cook successfully in their air fryers. The recipe book that came with mine seemed very geared to the American market, so I’ve had to adapt and translate. I did roast potatoes in one basket yesterday, ( part cooked in microwave first) and reheated a precooked pulled pork dish in the other basket on the roast setting. I regularly do jacket potatoes too, but start them off in the microwave to save time.

Thank you @Ergates  I googled recipes for air fryer and there are quite a few sites for ideas.

The BBC one is useful. No American measures and ingredients
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • I saw an airfryer cook book in Sains today.

Check it's not American. I paid a lot for one in Waterstones only to find it was US measures, Fahrenheit unfamiliar ingredients and weird combinations.
Beware even if it has a UK flag on the front, all they will have done is change F to C .

@B3   I agree about the BBC Good Food site.  it has easy and delicious recipes - and some good ideas for those days when you draw a blank.
