How do we pronounce this?

Hi all,
I have grown leeks from seed this year and they are doing very well. The variety is Musselburgh - but how is this pronounced? is it musselberg (as in iceberg) or musselborough (as in Edinburgh) or mussel borrooger (as in the Australian for Loughborough) ;) John H

PS, I have previously grown a variety called 'Stocky' from DT Brown but this year they have been very slow so switched to the above.

As Musselburgh is just down the road from Edinburgh I’ve always pronounced them similarly.

That’s the way I’ve heard others pronounce it too.

Thank you Hostafan 1 - I had wondered and it was going round & around in my mind as things do when we get older. (I guess Fairy-Girl should have put me right on that one)

I'm too late to the conservation - sorry!
Yes - same as Edinburgh - ie Mussel-burra, with the emphasis on the mussel part, and the 'burra' is usually shortened and sounds more like 'bru' - but not as in Irn Bru....  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Although I've heard lots of Americans pronounce it as Edinberg so that may not be too helpful to them. :D

And lots of English say gre nock for Greenock. It's green, like the colour. It's Greenwich which is wrong
