@SalixGold yes I was waiting to see if the other blooms might look different to the first few but I’m pretty sure the Cafe au Lait is the Royale and not the Twist as all the blooms are identical to photos of the Royale 😏 and all the blooms on the so called Nicholas are the same despite rain, ageing and sun!

It is annoying when you get the wrong plants for a scheme.. I ordered 9 Achilleas, same variety, last year and find I have 2 different types, 4 of one and 5 of another.. which isn't exactly the look I was after, although I like them both..

    Hemerocallis 'Mont Royal Demitasse'..

    'Stafford'..

    'Spinne in Lachs'..

    'Laurena'..

    'Claudine'..

    'Mood Elevator'..

I’ve contacted Sarah Raven today and they immediately agreed to refund me.  They agreed that they’d sent out Cafe au Lait Royale instead of Twist but couldn’t put a name to the yellow/white dahlia. They said they sometimes get the odd rogue dahlia and put it down to that.  Bang goes my carefully thought out colour scheme for this year 🙄

  • This bud on daylily Cartwheels has nine lobes instead of three. It will be interesting to see what it looks like when it opens!
  • The first ever fragrant yellow oriental lilies called sunshine.

Lilies I had relegated to the back as they were infested with lily beetles are flowering (entwined with bindweed and bramble).
    Do amaryllis count as lilies?

Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

    Eustace- yes.:)

    Dahlia Mystic Sparkler

Catdouch I sympathise... for some reason I have had mislabelled dahlias from four different vendors this year. And some of them are now 1m+ tall at the front of the border, where they should have been 30-50cm... lol. This one has really huge blooms. It might be Kelvin Floodlight.(?)

Yes @WAMS it’s b***y annoying isn’t it! I spent quite a lot of time planning my colour scheme and planted them out carefully, I even drew a plan 🙄😂  and had visions of a beautifully colour coordinated area of dahlias but that isn’t quite how it’s turned out!! Oh well, there are worse problems in the world 👍

@CatDouch I am kinda wondering how stable these varieties are. I am also growing what purports to be "Café au Lait Twist" .... the first bloom looked just like a slightly muddy Café au Lait, the second is predominantly that obnoxiously bright pink. So the blooms have been nothing like the advertised flower and wildly different from each other.
