I already have pink/red grapefruit every day for breakfast, and a small glass of juice, and have done for thirty years or so. It's my favourite fruit, which is one of the reasons why I don't want to take statins if I don't absolutely have to.

Statins and cholesterol seem to be rather controversial. It seems that statins have very little effect on risk of death from all causes, so they are probably a waste of time. Also, the body manufactures cholesterol because it uses it for various purposes, so it is not obvious that high or low levels of any kind of cholesterol is something to be bothered about, unless the levels are unusually high.
@Alan Clark2 in Liverpool I think that is a really dangerous statement to make, on a non specialist forum. Most Drs. believe that there is good evidence for statins, in fact many believe all people over 50 should take them.
My own views are slightly different, but I am not an expert in this area.
What you have said may well lead people to make an uninformed decision, and I would urge you to ask the mods to remove your post.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team

Yep, it's difficult to know what or who to believe. I see your post has lots of 'if', 'perhaps' and 'maybes' in it because you're offering it up as conversation, something to be considered and discussed and not cast iron evidence. Unsure why the forum idiot is not happy with that. It's not like you're here pretending to be a doctor or anything.
I know nothing about the subject of this thread but what I do know is that @punkdoc IS a doctor and has helped many people on this forum - both publicly and privately - over a number of years. To infer that he is anything other than someone trying to offer insight into medical issues is totally out of order. Likewise the comment about @pansyface. There is a huge difference between reasoned debate, citing personal experience or proven sources of information than just shouting down any opinion which doesn't suit your own ideas. Time to stick to compost making @MikeOxgreen rather than professing to be an expert on everything else under the sun and being so bloody rude to boot.
Blimey, @philippasmith2 ! Well said, girl ! 👏👏👏👏. You’ve managed to encapsulate perfectly in just a few lines exactly what the rest of us were thinking !
I wish I could write like you.
When there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits ?

I love grapefruit but can't eat it because it interacts with blood pressure treatment.
