@WAMS - didn’t see your post. That’s great to hear JC is still carrying on. I’m like agnasia and seem to be drawn to ones they no longer offer. Munstead Wood and Lady EH in particular. Is there any hope of ever getting the latter two anywhere? Especially MW.

@Alfie_ I have already posted this link on the previous thread. I believe this is Munstead Wood as per the Reference though they have advertised as Fragrant Old Purple. They take orders by phone and please ask the lady whether this is Munstead Wood before you place it. They source the roses from the nursery in Surrey and I really hope still there are stocks. Good luck https://www.giftaplant.com/shop/CHINA_20TH/Rosmunwood9

I like your matching blue pots... I can see you've been really busy, all those lovely roses for us to enjoy as well, this summer..

Hello and welcome to you too.. great to see you..
Yes that's no problem in using your JI no.2, I often use this as well.. what I would advise, but only if you have it, is to mix in some ordinary multi purpose compost, I often do a 50/50 split, or 60/40, or even just a few handfuls.  It lightens it, otherwise it's very heavy and rather dense on its own, but you don't have to do this, you can use your JI on its own if you wish..  you could also mix in some pea shingle/gravel instead if you have that..

    Happy wedding anniversary ahead..

  • @Songbird-2 when growing roses in containers long term you need to either use a mix of John Innes No 3 and multi purpose compost or a specially formulated Rose and shrub compost.  I use Westland Rose Planting and Potting Mix but there are others available.

Thansk @Marlorena and @rossdriscoll13 for the advice. OH and I are going to a garden centre at the weekend so will look out for the John Innes No3 but failing that, I will mix some mpc with the John Innes Number 2 and add a little grit. Here goes!

Eventually , if it comes good this year I will try and find a spot in the ground for it. Thanks!
