Yes she is... rather similar to Nollie's dog, is it the same type I wonder.. dogs are always welcome on the roses thread, hope you'll both join in this summer..
Hopefully @Marlorena I’ll be showing off my magnificent Malvern Hills rampaging through my garden 😂😂 Connie is a cockapoo, I’m not sure if @Nollie has a cockapoo?
Sorry to hear about your rose, definitely some dead and dying canes there, but hope it picks up.
Connie is so cute, but no not the same as my two. They are Spanish Water Dogs, an old herding breed that are thought to originate from the Turkish steppes. Bigger and heavier-built than the poos and poo crosses. If allowed to grow, the woolly coat turns into long dreadlocks, so I clip them several times a year.
The new pup is black and does look a bit similar to Connie at the moment:
But Bill shows the mature shape better:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Ahh they’re gorgeous @Nollie, Connie has a friend called Fred who is a Spanish Water Dog and he looks similar to a larger Connie, when we first met I made the mistake of asking if Fred was a large cockapoo!! As we know a cockapoo is a mixed breed so I felt a tad guilty when the owner said he was a pure breed!! Connie has dreadlocks at the moment as she’s due a haircut very soon.
Ah, so you know the breed, few seem to, even though there has been an SWD rescue society in the UK for many years. We SWD owners can get a bit miffed if people think they’re poos, but it’s an easy mistake to make 😊
