  • A lot of people refer to Cordylines as Palms - some know they aren't, others don't know. Palm is a bit quicker to type out tho  :D  I'm pretty sure that those growing along the " Devon Riviera" are often referred to as Torquay Palms so that doesn't always help.
That aside, there are sites which suit them and they can look quite majestic - an introduced plant for sure but so many of our plants are if you go back far enough.
They can actually be useful too at times.  A mature one which was situated across the road from my previous house was actually used as a nest site one year by the Collared Doves - no idea how they managed it but they did.
Re "bog brush" - I cannot find a decent one for my WC's - big and round but the wc's ( both modern installations ) have a square outlet so a Cordyline head would work better ;)
@nutcutlet - despite moving house, I'm still enjoying various plants grown from the seed you sent some years ago.  I like to know you are still around as I'm sure other posters do  :):)

@Dovefromabove, I really have no idea at all, I've met quite a few people for real in that time and some of the meet-ups seem a lifetime ago. I remember Anglesey Abbey at Snowdrop time, was that the first for those of us in this area?

  • @nutcutlet and @Dovefromabove I cannot imagine just how many gardeners have benefitted from all your kind help and advice.  UK gardens [and elsewhere in the world] are better places for it.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • @Heather Reed Yes that's the fun of gardening nothing stands still, always changing and at times challenging which I enjoy too.
