@Topbird I enjoyed your post about being like a pub and I look forward to meeting you again  :)

I also thought that your post was an excellent description of the forum @Topbird!

In French grammar, gender is given, you can't chop and change.  My comic strip culture came from la belle Belgique, but a Neerlandstalic gemeente.
Reminds me on colleagues in NA region, who thought, if Simone can deal with Europeans, we can do it, too. Unfortunately, the first guy they got was a Dutch. Next morning, that customer was on my table. 😂
I believe the Dutch speakers are the second honest after the Berliners (I can’t speak for all Germans) followed by the Danish and Finnish.
I can’t remember the name of that German comedian living in the UK, but he is of course right to say, “The English are to polite to be honest. The Germans are to honest to be polite.”

I do hope @bédé you will be living long enough in the UK to learn from both worlds. 😊

@Simone_in_Wiltshire, Henning Wehn? If so, he’s a very nice chap - the neighbour of a friend of mine,

HW. Really like him on panel shows. Seems like a nice bloke. A foreigner can know when he's been accepted when he's referred to as a bloke. Not sure what the female equivalent is, though.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I love him too. Very funny, and does seem genuinely lovely  :)

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

We saw him at the Edinburgh Fringe about 5 years ago ..... very funny, and a great evening.

Whoever said the Germans don't have a sense of humour obviously hadn't met Henning Wehn - very dry, very funny.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Indeed, @BenCotto , it's Henning Wehn, and as usually, I missed the second o.
