They've surprised us this year. We've got six plants in all, some 20+ years old, and this has been the best season ever for all of them. They're all in well-drained plots so I can only assume the harsh winter must have really spurred them on.
Can't resist showing this shot again. The intensity of blue on 'Big Blue' is breathtaking and an absolute magnet for bees!
Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
It was money well spent on the 20 Petunia Tidal Wave Red Velour plug plants I bought earlier this year. I had one plant last year and thought it was really striking so I knew I wanted them for my hanging baskets this year but it was really hard to find them so in the end I chanced it and bought them as tiny plugs. I didn’t hold out much hope as they looked pretty dead when they arrived but they’re doing pretty well now.
I tried to grow Veronicacastrum from seeds but failed. I bought this Veronicacastrum sibiricum at the garden centre and it starts showing flower heads.
This is my third attempt to grow Wild Marjoram. I had bought a plant at the garden centre.
Turning around, and you get this monstrous sunflower. Belongs to OH.
The Heleniums start now opening their flowers
Echinacea are all over the bed.
With the heavy wind and rain over the weekend, the lavender has fallen over, but doesn't stop bees.
Important is what is underneath - R.I.P. Charlie. I loved to walk with you through our garden.
