We have just come back to my house in France having spent 6 weeks at OH's cottage in Norfolk. I feel quite pleased with my garden. Handyman has mowed and watered and I spent a day weeding.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Some pics from July not many from me this month , the rain has been relentless for weeks now . Manged to get a pic of a sporadic flower off the meconopsis with the ligularia at the beginning of the month . 2 week later
I realised that I have to change the position if I take an overall image otherwise you see only green and think, where are these flowers that she shows. Here they are, when sitting on the bench. The richness of the bed is a heaven for all kind of animals, hedgehogs including.
Sanguisorba 'Raspberry Coulis' and Persicaria 'Pink Elephant' are proving really good plants for my small garden. The Sanguisorba is tallish in flower (1.2-1.5m) but is so transparent it doesn't get in the way, the maroon bobbles just hover above everything. The Persicaria is much much smaller than the others I have tried. I love all Persicarias, but this one looks perfectly in scale with the c.30cm high Sesleria grasses, the foliage a bit more manageable and less prone to smother it's neighbours - important when you are as inclined to plant lots of things closely together like me.
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
