@Plantminded I agree about Salvia Amistad. I've almost lost mine last winter. Looking forward to new flowers on the last rescued item.

"Helenium and Calamagrostis in flower." A lovely combination. Are you into the trendy "prairie planting" à la Piet Oudolf?

Hi @Papi Jo, thank you.  I do like Piet Oudolf’s schemes and use some of the plants he recommends but I think prairie planting on my small plot would be a challenge! I just like combinations of grasses and perennials which suit my soil and are undemanding, requiring no staking or slug defences!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

@Wrigs21 Nice attempt at low maintenance/drought tolerance, thanks for posting. Could we please have the list of the plants being used?

Still playing around with things but my newish additions were Perovskia Blue, Stachys, Verbena Rigida, Sedum Matrona, Nepeta Six Hills giant, Euphorbia Characias wufenii and a couple of Yuccas (not sure how well they’ll fair with the winter). Mixture of grasses including Karl Foerster. Some not so drought tolerant however have kicked on for years include the campanula Loddon Anna and the Veronicastrum.

Sat on a steep hill, full sun and clay soil so it’s been a challenge!
