I reported him too. Of course we all know that the soi-dit gurus mentioned never ever make mistakes. And that all the books written on gardening are bang up to date with their information.
@Palustris has probably forgotten more about plants than many other people will know in their lifetime @GardenerSuze. A wealth of knowledge and always helpful

Exactly. You do what works for you and if it doesn't then you try something else. We have a plant outside here which is a conservatory plant. Friends who gave it to us laughed when I planted it outside, having no indoor space. It has been there 3 years now, surviving some very intense cold, grown like mad and flowers beautifully.
I think people forget that if a plant is not thriving then most of the time you can move it (except perhaps Daphnes).
And before what's is face complains, I have read an awful lot of books about plants and gardens and a lot of awful books about them too.
The ones which really annoy me are the ones which just parrot what was written ages ago without finding out about modern thinking. That way no progress is ever going to be made.
No need to apologise @Palustris. I don't think I've ever had a garden when I haven't moved something. Often it's simply because I change my mind, but it's also because the plant grows too big, or does the opposite, and therefore doesn't fit. Info on plant sizes is also approximate, but we often see posters asking why something is much bigger than plant label info states. Conditions, location and climate again. I occasionally try a plant that I know might be iffy, but if I think it's worth a shot, then I'll go for it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Before the internet, most of us old farts read books. Imagine that.....

@MikeOxgreen I assume the comments from early this morning were addressed to me. I have been a professional gardener for 24 years now retired. The thread from yesterday 'Thinking about pruning' is a good example of a gardening world that is moving faster than any book you may read. I hope you have a moment to read it for yourself.
They clearly weren't, I have no idea why you think they were? Are you also doing the 'mortally offended on behalf of someone else' thing?
Just a footnote to my comment 'hoping a plant will grow', I assumed people would credit me with at least reading the plant's label before selecting a position for it.

Well … whoever the unpleasantness was addressed to, the Mods obviously decided that post was unsuitable for the forum and have removed it
Lets move on 😊
