My new Asparagus bed is in its third year,  we are getting a small but steady supply of succulent spears.

When we were buying our current house the then owner went on and on about how well his asparagus beds were doing.  He must have had an area about 15' x 10' of them.  I didn't have the heart to tell him we don't like asparagus.

We love the green stuff but not the more usual white stuff so loved by the Belgians, French and Germans.  I've started a patch here in suitable soil but it struggles in the dry so we only get enough spears for one or two meals.  Better than nowt.

I covered their raised bed with a thick mulch of cow Muck in January,  I was worried that I had overdone it but they seem to be pushing through well.

Thanks for good wishes, @B3.  I'm never ill so being suddenly felled by an infection has been a surprise... now weak as a kitten, but garden therapy is working its magic.   :)
