Afternoon all. Debs I hope you’ll soon be feeling recovered from your cold. Hazel glad you managed to fix your central heating. I had a walk with Dad to deposit at the clothes pod. It’s cold my eyes were streaming but lovely to be out in the fresh air, good under foot.
My car passed its MOT and the garage have unblocked the rear windscreen washer. I didn't walk to the garage as I'd planned, knee was hurting. I called a taxi.
I've finished wrapping all the Christmas presents and pruned most of the grape vine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afternoon all. Hazel, my cold has just about gone now. I popped over to have a cup of tea and a natter with Jack - kept my distance. We were watching the antics of some juvenile squirrels in his garden for a while and then the nurse arrived to put drops in his eye that has had the latest cataract operation. Jack is delighted with the results. Spent a couple of hours with him. Happy to hear that the board arrived and you are pleased with it but I don't think I would be impressed with the card hanger either!
Busy, sounds like a nice walk this morning. Well done on finishing the gift wrapping
Red maple, sounds like you had a super visit yesterday to your sister's. Its great to have catch ups like that. Hope you got all your chores done.
Biglad, I was sent a new debit card from my Bank recently and I think it is the ugliest card I have ever seen - told the lady in the Bank that on Monday when I was there. We both laughed about it. It looks as if it has been plunged into a runny egg yolk. Yuk! Perhaps I could try using it as an ice scraper the next cold snap we get although I would probably just get the same ugly card again.
Whilst in my front garden this morning - getting stuff sorted for the bins - I spotted a little yew seedling growing next to the drain which takes the water from the roof. I think it was probably a birdie gift. It did not want to be pulled up but eventually I won the tug of war and managed to get it free. Its roots were twice the length of the top growth. I planted it up in a pot and I've put it in the back garden where I hope it will survive.
Rosie, you do very well with your clothes recycling don't you? Sounds like you and your Dad had a nice walk like Busy did earlier.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I finally have free time. My distant cousin came to visit, unannounced but very pleasant. His wife is from Switzerland and they brought me, must say, plenty of Toblerone chocolate. Now I can have my dinner and tea. It's another Christmas movie on tv, but don't like it. Whole day was grey with fog.
LB, wHat a good time you've had with the wonderful Jack. How well he has done with the eye operations. He is ok over loss of kitty? He will be so a grateful for your company. Wish my mum had a lovely neighbour like you, I'd rest a lot easier than I do, that's for sure. What a nice ( reward?) find of the Yew sapling, one of my favourite trees.( We've just planted one too). Hopefully, it will grow away in the pot come the spring and next year. Busy, good news that the car passed its MOT. My OH is always like a cat on hot bricks when our cars in for its MOT. You did right getting a taxi too. Ante, , and what a wonderful surprise you've had today too with the surprise visit from your ( distant) cousin and good present! No Poirot on tonight? We seem to have a glut of Midsomer Murders on the TV these days. We have decided to have a trip to a garden centre tomorrow, after shopping. It will be a change and get us out of the house after all the waiting around we seem to have done this week. Rosie, the walk with your dad will have done you both good, despite the cool weather. Fresh air and a bit of exercise will have done his legs some good, hopefully...you too.Good for you to do some recycling. Im going to sign out for now folks. See you tomorrow. Night all.
Evening Ante and Hazel. What a very pleasant surprise your visitors must have given you today Ante. I love Toblerone (other chocolates are available! ). I bet you are looking forward to tomorrow now. Some of the Christmas Movies shown here recently are really dreadful - I don't bother with them. There was a horrible musical on today as well.
Hazel, Jack admitted to me today that he was really missing Kitty. He said when he woke up sometimes he could swear he had seen her on the bed. He was quite low today and insisted I go over although I was still a little hesitant - thats why I kept my distance. I have copied, enlarged and printed a tiny black and white picture (one taken in a photo booth) of him, Molly his wife and Jackie their daughter which he wants to give to Jackie as a surprise. She has never seen the picture before and was probably about 8 years of age in the picture.
I don't think that the little yew seedling is big enough yet to be called a sapling - it is only about 6cm (about 2 inches in old money!) tall. I'll keep talking to it and once it gets to 30cm tall (if it survives) then I think I could call it a sapling. Enjoy your GC trip tomorrow.
I am signing out too. See you all tomorrow. Enjoy your evenings.

Hi LB. I love chocolate too, maybe little bit too much. I don't like many of this new (American) Christmas movie. They all have the same plot and mostly very poor acting. I really looking forward for my trip tomorrow. It will finally be some me time to enjoy and do stuff which I like.
LB I’m not a fan of musicals either. Glad you had a good chat with Jack and the cataract ops have good results. Ante the American Christmas movies are rather dreadful. They probably churn them out. Not much on so relaxing on the bed with furry company. Ante it’s looking a lot like Christmas at yours. Night night all.
Lovely picks Ante very festive. Jack will have been pleased to see you LB . Hazel enjoy your trip to the garden centre .Sleep well everyone . Good night .
