    And from me @Liriodendron :)
I was interested in you saying that you were asleep for the procedure. I was told that wouldn't be possible as you need to be able to move at times.

  • During my recent procedure I started laying on my left side, then at one stage I had to roll onto my right side, and then back again for the last little while.

The nurses move you if you are asleep.

Been there done that, both sides of the coin. Uncomfortable, was told I would need to reposition myself. Annie,at least the consultant didn't look down at your face, and say "don't I know you". Yes,it was the hospital where I worked! Family history, and first bout of IBS it turns out! Prep.....OPD 2 toilets,6 folks prepped. Always used to be given previous night.

Light sedation is the norm these days.
How can you lie there and think of England

You may refuse the sedation,if you choose. I did. No problem, no pain, no nothing.

The lady who gave me the enema lives in our village. Couldn't believe it when she walked into the room!

Sister had two this year. Really didn’t get on with the pre procedure preparation, couldn’t keep the last doses down. Meant the bowel wasn’t completely clean, so they had to get her back for a repeat. However, they gave her an alternative preparation medicine, which she managed to cope with, and second attempt was fine, all clear and given a clean bill of health.
  • Due to there being blood detected in a bowel cancer screening I had a colonoscopy at the beginning of November where a polyp was removed but they said that nothing looked cancerous, I still haven't had any results of the biopsy or a later CT scan back and when phoning the GP's yesterday was told that they didn't know oh hang on the results have just come in but it's all in medical terms and I don't understand it the doctor will get back to you, no news is good news as they say. My wife has had quite a bit of work done on the NHS via a private hospital lucky her their attitude to patient care is so much better than NHS hospital's.
