Matching pot and tulips

coccinellacoccinella Posts: 1,428
I have a large plastic rectangular fuchsia coloured container. What tulip colour would you choose? It sits below a large Spirea Bridal Wreath (white in April), there is no "colour scheme" anywhere in my garden. I reckon it can easily hold 50 bulbs. Too heavy to move so I have no choice but leaving it where it is.

I'd go for a mass of two tone whte and pink tulips such as Graceland or Beautytrend or a mix of pure white and pure pink to echo the spirea and the pot with maybe a deep purple for greater contrast to highlight the main colours.

So you would match the spring colour of the Spirea. Thank you @Fire I am sure to find white tulips here.
    Here is a pic

pink peonies grow behind them. the other shrub is a Fothergilla, also white in late spring.

So white and pink with a few purple ones. Say half/half and a quarter of Blu Diamond (or similar)?

ah no I got it now @Obelixx. Two tone colours in one tulip. I will look around for equivalent types on Dutch online suppliers. Cannot buy from the UK anymore.

I guess it depends if you want a sharp contrast, a match in colour or a neutral accompany - cream/buff/white ...

How about those almost black ones and some dark pink/ fuchsia coloured ones.

    Queen of Night? hmmm
  • I love T Sarah Raven. I think you need to tone the colour down or the pot will dominate. A purple lily flowered form would work well.
