No way, @owd potter... they seem to have a scorched earth policy to these roses and they won't keep them on. DA have even withdrawn the licence for other English nurseries to grow/sell MW, Darcey, etc, but hopefully they will continue to be available on the continent.
This bloom is nearly a fortnight old... cl. Arthur Bell
Gabriel Oak... full of buds again, third(?) flush. Dahlias Night Butterfly... foliage going bad now but still blooming beautifully Some cuttings rooted... hurray! I don't suppose I should say which rose (Oabriel Gak). Emily finding her feed and starting to climb Rose des Cisterciens also ready for third flush. A little rain-damaged but already fragrant. Lark
@Nollie, @WhereAreMySecateurs, I'm sure that you are correct. Interesting potential situation tho'. I haven't checked the T&C's of the order, and I guess that they will have covered all such eventualities in legalese, but technically it would appear that they would Prima Facie be unable to discharge the guarantee undertaking as stated in the back of their rose catalogue etc, "to replace" a defective rose.
I just counted 6 buds on my new (planted 1 month ago) Julia Child. I wasn't sure if I'd get any flowers beyond the buds it came with when purchased. Delighted it's happy!
More like I will be joining you in the So Not Ready corner @WhereAreMySecateurs 🤦
@owd potter DA online returns form asks you to indicate whether you want a refund or a “like for like” replacement, but they could legitimately argue that means supplying a rose of equal quality and value. I think you better look after your MW and LEH!
Your Ebb Tide is looking fab @Eustace, another one (like Deep Secret) that is very hit and miss for folks. I’m really hoping mine does better in a pot than it has in the ground.
This morning’s buffet..
A better colour rendering of Cramoisi Superieur, which my camera can’t capture in sun:
Compact dark dahlia Diabolo in morning sun:
Mme. Antoine Mari, my best and most vigorous Tea to date, very easy to grow:
The big ruffled blooms of Love Song are rarely perfect but it’s a Weeks Winner for me:
But despite this near perfect Autumn bloom, Folle Courtisane is a Delbard Duffer:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
You have to keep growing Folle Courtisane... that perfect bloom is surely worth it. I wonder if she is available in England. "Crazy Prozzy" would be quite a good name.
Wish my Ebb Tide had performed like yours, Eustace! I am hoping Twilight Zone will be better. Your Darcey is a lovely colour.
Ordering Blue for You, Fragonard, Jac du Pré and Giardina when I get two seconds later. And that'll be it for the year.
Just been trying to dig some holes for more roses but keep being elbowed aside by the expert.
Although I don’t want to bin the roses, I can’t wait until the winter to dig out as I have other garden chores, digging holes for the new roses, plants , pruning etc. My hands will be frozen by the time I finish the tasks . I just want to minimise the time in the garden under freezing temperatures.
When is the good time to start winter pruning roses please?
Love your Ebb tide colour @Eustace. @Nollie I like the multipetalled flower form of your Folle Courtisane. Does it have any fragrance?
I am intending the plant out the potted roses before the cold kicks in. I have my jumper on already!
It is a lovely bloom WAMS, but it couldn’t take my spring heat, never mind summer. Blooms are sparse on a huge bush and turn coral - which I hate in a pink rose. It might be a good one for cooler climes, if you could stand the horribly medicinal aniseed scent, another negative for me. So far only released in France/EU, I think..

It's on my list to put in this winter

Plenty of blooms yet to open on Darcey Bussel.
Ebbtide
Great colour. Looks in good nick too for October.
