I can’t motivate myself to do anything either, it’s cold and horrible out there and covid is still lingering. OH reports that it snowed heavily overnight near Manchester..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Full marks to Mme. Antoine Mari for effort, frost-nipped blooms, but still:
Same with Cramoisi Superieur:
Kew Gardens is not a rose for warm climates and I should have hoiked it out years ago. I get a modest spring flush then it goes dormant all summer and well into autumn. Now a late scattering:
Would you believe it, I have (climate confused) sawfly larvae active again in my garden! I have just squished some whoppers on Mme. Isaac Pereire:

Beautiful summer photos from @Mr. Vine Eye, @Marlorena and @pitter-patter . As always, I wish I had appreciated my modest but colourful summer garden instead of criticizing it, but on the bright side you have all encouraged me to check out RV Rogers for the first time and I made a small order including Forever Royal (which had been on my wish list earlier in the year).
Had to laugh at Gertrude's ratcheted pot, sorry @Nollie. I think that's brilliant. Something makes me think it will be ok too Hope you are recovering and your Mum is ok.
Smashing consignment of roses there @WhereAreMySecateurs. Looks like a nice free slug too. I love Pohutukawa as well, I have a photo somewhere of one growing out of a rock. Wonderful trees, wonderful country. I travelled there twice with my now late mother and I hope to go there again.
Another shivering rose for you; Night Owl. My garden is frozen solid and it looks set to continue next week but I'm away down south to do battle with the rail strikes. In a traveller way, not a union way.
I've attracted some goldfinches after putting out the sun chip feeders (prepping for this weather issue) in addition to some other little resident guys. They're quite good fun. On the downside I leant too heavily on my elderly Lutyens bench while grasping for the stowed-away feeder pole, crushing it to soggy smithereens.
Gorgeous frost pics everyone. Shalott, eyes for you, angel eyes and syrie all have a few frosty buds, I'll try and get some pics. Heavy thick layer offrost here Last of the tulips getting stuffed in tomorrow, I know im late but have just been exhausted and until this week the summer bedding was still out!! Ive found loads of rotten vine weevil grubs though, not sure best way to get rid of them before spring and nematode season. Cant easily empty the soil out.
Seriously though, even folks with quite severe spider phobia can find themselves liking jumping spiders. It’s because they have a recognisable face, and are so expressive. Probably a lot of it is in their movement as well, very un-spider-like. They’re cute!

If I could motivate myself to go to the allotment I could probably get some good frosty hip pics on Arthur Bell. But that's a big ask at the moment!
