Thanks, @Marlorena, you're the best. Would you use any kind of fleece or anything else to protect it now? The other roses near it in some cases have a tiny bit of tip dieback but nothing comparable. Jubilee C planted at the same time from the same order is looking terrific less than two feet away!

No I wouldn't bother with that.. temps are getting milder now for a decent period, so I don't think you'll get any more dieback..

I just ordered some Dahlias.. .lol.

Still some frost today but spring is in the air. The clematis Armandii  is clearly getting awake and blue tits are back defending their territory..

regarding dr Jamain anybody is aware how Fire is doing?

All these reports of plant buying is making me twitchy and envious!

I may have access to a baffling array of roses, but local shrub and perennial selection is absolutely dire. I’ve had such bad experiences and wasted a lot of money buying those online from France the last couple of years and I’m not sure I want to risk it again. Too many mislabelled and sickly plants with strangled roots encased in those teabag things.

  • @Marlorena - my clematises from Taylor's arrived too.  Really good delivery and packed up very well.  I got the two Piilus (or is it Piili?) all planted.

The spare Madam Alfred Carriere has also found its forever home.  I have a big and high wall, though it is North facing and slightly shaded.  All I've read seems to suggest that MAC will be OK or probably won't care!   But at least she has 10' to spread and about 15' in height to go up.  All newly wired.  So she is out of the pot and into the ground.

Fingers crossed she makes a full and fulsome recovery.

That's good Peter, you're gradually getting there after much hard work..  I'm pleased you've got your plants sorted and in the ground..

I have another clematis arriving tomorrow, a scented one, this time from Thorncroft, who are also equally good..

All my other plants I received were planted over last couple of days..  hard work but I got there too..   I've also ordered some martagon Lilies..
