I found Cat Stevens very moving, and I was not looking forward to him.

We really enjoyed his session … I’ve always rated him … a really good writer … and so ‘grounded’ .

The lyrics of Father and Son are so insightful.
Matthew and Son is such a cheerful tune, and then you listen to the lyrics. At least they had a piece of cake in the 5 minute break.

I agree about Elton's guests @coccinella. Steven Sanchez went waffling on and killed the mood l felt. We could have had a song from The Lion King instead !

It made me smile to see the young people singing along, probably their parents weren't even born when a lot of those songs were hits. I wonder how many of today's artists wil be around in 40 to 50 yesrs time, and their songs will be sung ? A beautiful evening and fantastic shots of the massive crowd.

Me and my son were talking about that watching Elton - where is music going with streaming? Could an artist like Elton exist in 30 years when people no longer own music? My kids grew up with their mum's music and mine - we owned/own albums. But what happens when you only stream and radio 'dies'? Will you even remember what you listened to 20 years ago? Will Andy Warhol's 15 minutes of fame mean artists appear and vanish as they self publish on the net?

Cat Stevens - odd for me to like him, as I'm more 'soul' - but Tea For The Tillerman was to me an exceptional album. If he'd just done that album as his set I'd have been happy - oh, and The Boy With The Moon And Stars On His Head.

I watched Cat Stevens this morning and I feel quite emotional now. His voice was superb.
    Texas were very good too.

Talking of ageing this is Shirley Collins' new interpretation of Hares on the Mountain.  It's very moving this older voice, she is my mum's age.

Being the techno phobe that I am, I've no idea how to link my "music of the moment" to here.
Anyhow, "Moonlight Shadow" by Mike Oldfield, is one of the tunes in my head at the moment - and on my CD player!!
    Yes, CD!!
Even got it on cassette tape and vinyl!!

Ah, think I have it now!!
