I really don’t understand people saying it is not our fault. The majority of climate change has been caused by us, and unless we do something the planet will become a very difficult place to inhabit.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@punkdoc Most of the pollution is done in Asia nowadays and we can't stop them doing it. Using phrases like "majority of climate change has been caused by us" are not helpful either, because who is "us"? If everybody lived a life like me, there would be no climate change, but I already fail to convince my partner that a life without light during the night, plastic litter, gadgets that no-one needs, and a freezer to freeze what we never intended to eat in the next months would be a better one. People don't like it when they are told to change their habit - as far as I'm aware off.
Tackling the obesity would lead to 70% less litter!
We have a shed building business down the road from where we live and when I drove past yesterday they had a roaring fire going in the middle of the yard burning all the wood offcuts. Couldn't believe it, they are surrounded by trees. One spark is all it would take.
From what I am seeing in the news lately, the 4 horsemen are mounted and giddying up their steeds. I would like to hope I am wrong, but nothing short of a world-wide revolution that might tilt the balance is likely to change things now.
I and many others have tried to do our bit, in whatever way we can, but we are vastly outweighed by the greedy, complacent, lazy and ignorant.
The planet will probably survive, and life too, though both in ways totally un-recognisable to us, but I don't see much hope for humanity despite all the wonderful things we are capable of achieving and so many possibilities for making things better. The garden of Eden lost again.
I shall be gone before the worst hits, but I grieve for the younger generations who will see their futures aborted and the suffering on an unimaginable scale that will ensue.
I'm a pragmatist, I must accept what I cannot change. For now, the sun is shining, the sky is blue, my garden can still make me smile and I will enjoy it as long as I am able.
Thanks, Yvie I don't have grandchildren (yet) but it is a cause of concern to my daughter and may well prevent her from ever having a family of her own, as seems to be happening on a wider scale nowadays.
My son didn’t want any either for the same reason, there’s 8 billion people so far and set to rise to 11b. If this earth can’t sustain 8 how’s it going to sustain. 11b. but still they will have them.
The planet has only one lot of water, and we have it all now, apart from desalination which will be very costly to folks, there’s nothing to be done. pat least the young fold who decide not to have any with make up for the ones that think 2 is not enough.
We won’t destroy this planet, only the habitation on it, it will recover.

Pollution may be happening in Asia … but a lot of it originates in the west … we just export it and pretend it’s ‘nothing to do with us guv’ …

And who is ‘us’? That’s simple … ‘us’ is the human race … who else?
