I’m just fed up with people telling us it’s our fault when it isn’t
Collective responsibilty. Quite how and if humanity gets its head around the issue is a question. Ten years ago I would have said it would. Eventually; become alarmed when they understand, and then take action. Now, I think - no. People don't want to take responsibility for anything; it doesn't matter how bad things get, how bad the prospect gets or how many tools we have for fixing eminently resolvable problems. Humanity has not the will or intelligence to save itself.
@Dovefromabove and @punkdoc especially because of climate change it is needed to tell the truth and do stop calling them wild fire. They are mostly caused by humans and we have to tackle that problem.
The term ‘wildfire’ simply means a fire that is out of control and spreading through the countryside.
The term has nothing to do with the cause of the fire. It does not mean that it’s ‘natural’ in origin in some way.

The picture on the edp report is St James hill, which is about 500 metres from my house as the crow flies. If they turned around they have got the best view of norwich. The boy racers hang out there on a Friday night with their little bbq's, so it might look even drier tomorrow.
Can’t see this situation improving anytime soon. Plan on having 4 water butts up from 2 by the end of the year. Plus have ordered some water proof canopies so going to experiment with turning them into rain catchers when the rain returns!
Thanks dove, we and I think everyone else is ok gladly. We have friends that live within spitting distance of there. One side is surrounded by houses but I can't tell from the pictures how far it got that way. We walk there everyday and have been saying it looks ready to go but so does much of the surrounding woods. Thankfully it seems the amazing fire service got there quickly, probably because it's a popular area and fires aren't uncommon over mousehold in normal years unfortunately . I wouldn't rule out a bbq as people do have them and it's near the benches. It must have been going as I wrote my previous reply, I assure you it was a horrible coincidence, I didn't even know until I was told half an hour ago. We didn't even smell it or see the smoke because the wind was in the other direction.
A friend in Leeds nearly had her terrace of houses go up because some fool was burning rubbish in the garden. Pines trees caught fire and it ripped through the gardens.

I have 4 and they don't last long at all. I could do with a few IBCs, but don't have the room!
As regards climate change, did anyone else see the recent series Big Oil vs The World? It seems that scientists employed by ExxonMobil had all the data and predicted exactly what is happening now. This was 40 yes FORTY years ago. They predicted burning fossil fuels would cause climate change, but of course that wasn't compatible with the companies profits.
