  • I came across this toadstool yesterday, whilst at Knole Park in Sevenoaks yesterday. Does anyone have any idea as to the identity of this stunning toadstool please?
It was about an inch and a half across, and about the same in height.

  • That really is a stunner @rowlandscastle444 looks good enough to eat  ;)

I found something that looked like dog vomit on the allotment the other week and searching the net found out that it is called dog vomit, it didn't last long I believe that it is a slime mould, very interesting the world of fungi isn't it.

@rowlandscastle444 Could be one of the waxcaps, maybe this? Hygrocybe aurantiosplendens - Orange Waxcap. There are quite a few similar species.

Thank you for the hint, @steephill
    It certainly seems a possibility.
  • Hi, I found these growing in one of my planters, that has been empty for a few weeks.

  • Underneath

I've found several small clumps. Less than 1cm across, and the tallest at about 2cm high.
Do any of you know whether these should be encouraged, or removed?
    Thank you.

It might be another one of the waxcaps, possibly Scarlet Waxcap. There are lots of similar reddish waxcaps which are hard to tell apart. I'd let them be, they are not poisonous and many are in fact edible but best left to get on with their job of recycling nutrients. They won't harm anything in the planter.
  • Thank you, @steephill
