DA order yesterday, @bcpathome... one was actually the wrong rose, and they are sending out the correct one next week. So you might even get three for price of two lol
Gift card will be added at checkout phase. Lucky you. That's a wonderful pressie!
I usually prefer to buy bare root over potted. As others said, TW and Styles are the top. DA only for roses bred by them otherwise it's way too expensive. I avoid Beales whenever possible. I had some not so good bare roots from them. Although their potted rose were good.
I don’t know about potted and they are certainly a good price in the sale, but I’ve had some average and some really ropey bare root roses from Beales in the past. Most other good rose suppliers send you healthy, well branched bare root plants with a minimum of 3 strong canes but Beales were happy to send me two runty sticks because ‘that’s all they had’ then tell you to get back to them in a year if they’re not doing well. They didn’t die, but needed a lot of extra TLC. Not great when you are paying full price and it takes a year or longer to get to the same stage as those of other suppliers.
DA are expensive but both bare root and potted have been great quality and their no quibble customer service is fantastic. No problems establishing those. I would happily buy their own-bred varieties, they are worth the money, but like edhelka, I wouldn’t bother buying non DA roses from DA if they were available from other reputable suppliers like TW etc.

If buying containerised roses it is worth asking rose specialists questions about how big the root ball is/ how long it has been in the pot/ when it was potted. You can sometimes pay much more for a rose that has just been containerised, offering no advantage. Be wary about end of season plants too - as Nollie says you can be sold "the only ones left". I have bought these kind of plants before, that I had my heart set on. I was pleased to nab "the last one" - which was foolish as it was a runt - bad root system and few canes. I should have waited.
Mine bare roots were ordered early though Fire, not end of season! Sometimes it’s just pot luck which is next in the line to be picked, but a good supplier would pass over any weak ones if they didn’t meet their quality standards.

Oh, so it wasn't just me, Nollie- my Peter Beales bareroots were small, too- two wee canes for Armada, which I had my heart set on after seeing Marlorena's splendid one. I thought it was so small just because I ordered it at the end of bareroot season!
Can't complain too much because Peter Beales are the only stockists and I'd rather have a little one than none.
@FayeG ..as others have said, Peter Beales are a few days behind in despatching roses at the moment, 3-4 days longer than normal, according to a recent email I got from them, so please be patient.
You have made some excellent choices,.. you might find 'Westerland' problematic as it will want to turn itself into a climber.. and it's very thorny.. 'Rosarium Uetersen' is a great choice, and would be mine if I was wanting a new climbing rose. You asked about their potted roses, size of pot etc. I was there in April this year, and fortuitously took a picture of 'Uetersen' on their benches...
..at this time of year the rose will be well rooted in, and ready for planting out, and obviously much more top growth than shown here..
I noticed you have bought both Bone Meal and Root Boost... you should be advised of the latest research on this, which has found that Root Boost products are made inactive by the application of high phosphorus Bone Meal at the same time. It won't harm your rose, it's just you've paid for a product - Root Boost - only to destroy it by applying bone meal.. so it's a case of one or the other, but not both together... however, it's up to you..
