I blame lycra. When Linford Christie used to run, it was like watching a metronome.

No, they can build stuff and other such things as well.

When the 'lycra/wet' sport was on, I had Ray Stevens' The Streak on loop to warn my wife not to look. She typically went deaf at such times.

It was too late, she'd already been "incensed". 😁😁.

    Hi folks,
We've had rain! Don't know how much though as we were still asleep. Lawn looked refreshed anyway which is good. Had a lazy morning and then deadheaded quite a large rose bush, took well over an hour to do. I have to smile as it was meant to be a Flower Carpet rose but doesn't know it, so it's now a good 6ft tall! It turned out nice and sunny this afternoon and felt a lot fresher.

Our car kept telling us the tyre pressure was low despite OH adjusting it so he ended up taking it our local tyre fitting place where they found a slow puncture. Got a long journey to do next week so glad we got a new tyre.
On the subject of journeys, our friend had a sat nav app on her phone which I thought might be useful for me sometimes rather than the stand alone one we've got. Her's was 'Herewego', anybody else use it and any idea of price please?

Football leaves me absolutely cold, as does sport in general although I know my little granddaughter is an avid fan.

I've realized I actually had a recurrence of vertigo the other day - not a hangover! Still having mild dizzy sensations if I put my head down but hoping it will go away soon.

I've always used a free app called Navmii (other apps are available) on my phone (as my car is so old, I have to have stoker alongside me and a person in front with a red flag - so obviously doesn't have mod cons) and it's been fine - I don't drive thousands of miles now though.

Edited to add: Be wary of that 'dizziness' as well. My wife developed something called labyrinthine ear - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/labyrinthitis/ - not a dangerous issue, but it kept her in bed feeling sorry for herself for a week or so. I only remember it, as it took her ages to catch up on the washing up etc after she got better....

I use Waze, downloaded the app for free, it's great.

My Son 2 uses Waze too, free and he likes it better than Google Maps.

I was about to start log stacking this morning when Son 2 rang and asked me to lunch. I finished stacking the logs, swept the barn, had a shower and went to spend the rest of the day with them, so didn't have time to post this morning. Had a swim in their pool. Last time I swam in it the water was 30° because of the heatwave. It was a hot day but nights have been cooler, water was 24°, felt quite chilly. The grandchildren are so sweet, I'll see them all again on Thursday. Son has an ancient Triumph Spitfire, he took me for a ride in it. It's red with a wicker picnic basket strapped on the back.

PS. @Pat E the logs are mostly oak, some hornbeam and chestnut. Conifers soot up the chimney, not usually sold for firewood here. Plenty of forests in Dordogne. They re-plant too.

Good evening all,  I so love to read all your chat at the end of a busy day. It's a window on the world. 🙂

I'm really not complaining, but CdeG absolutely sucks me in day and night, especially at this time of the year. I love it and it's everything I ever dreamed of, but I so miss my gardening, hate the hasty fixing of things, quick dead head, and throw some water on things...

Very much struggling with work/life balance, but it'll all be over by September. However, the feedback from guests is amazing and certainly extremely rewarding. I do get a little grumpy with other restaurants in the town that only open the bare minimum of hours/days which means we're the only ones open and therefore get bombed. A fabulous team this year, but I really can't leave the building.

I'm looking at buying a new house, literally 5 mins from CdeG, I'm hoping that might be my little escape, even if in summer I only get to sleep there. Worried it might just be yet another garden to battle with.

Charlie is amazing, such a good little worker, had his 1st ever shave today, bless. He has to go to his new school, to the dormitory on the 31st of August, which happens to be his birthday. I said maybe we could do dinner together in the town first, but he said no, school is very important and he needs to get there, get focused and can't be messing about with family meals. He's pencilled me in for the week before. 😅

Anyway, keep chatting, so interesting to follow, very best wishes to all.
