Along with hand gel, I should offer "full tights" at my front door for contractors who like to swing free. There is a sketch in there, for sure.

Carpenters used to wear aprons … perhaps that’s also a tradition that could be brought back into vogue … and then the brickies could have the hod pieces 😉

Back in the dim and distant past as a new girl at the high school I was given a list of required clothing. Next to red or grey tights was "knickers with elastic at the waist and KNEES". Even my grandmother laughed at that.

Reminds me of when we had a prospectus for my daughter’s secondary school,  she was reading the uniform list,  oh mum!  We have to have navy French Knickers,  that’s nice isn’t it,   I told her to read it again. French Navy knickers.

Could we please have an illustration showing the difference between these 2 kinds of knickers?

These are knickers that are in the colour "French Navy" - a dark blue. They used to be a standard part of school uniform, esp to play sports.

"French knickers" seem to mean lingerie that's lacy or silky.
