  • That's a bit of a morbid post Uff, it implies you've been given an expiry date?

No just being a realist Mike due to my age. At the moment I have the energy of a 50 year old and I'm fighting fit but I'm well over the three score years and ten. I still have a desperate need to learn though which I'm truly grateful for.

I just learned about a fungi called Snaketongue Truffleclub. I've never seen one but I love the name. It could be a great name for a band (or a terrible name for a pornstar). I need to go out and find one now.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Oh I say, I like that one @wildedges. Just be sure to take your camera because we all need to see it.

    Not remotely morbid.

    “I counted my years
and found that I have less time to live
from here on than I have lived up to now.
I feel like that child who won a packet of sweets:
she ate the first with pleasure,
but when she realised that there were few left,
she began to enjoy them intensely.
I no longer have time for endless meetings
    where statutes, rules, procedures
    and internal regulations are discussed,
knowing that nothing will be achieved.
I no longer have time to support the absurd people who,
despite their chronological age, haven't grown up.
    My time is too short:
    I want the essence,
my soul is in a hurry.
I don't have many sweets in the package anymore.
I want to live next to human people,
    very human,
who know how to laugh at their mistakes
and who are not inflated by their triumphs
and who take on their responsibilities.
    Thus human dignity is defended
and we move towards truth and honesty
It is the essential that makes life worth living.
I want to surround myself with people
who know how to touch hearts,
people who have been taught by the hard blows of life
to grow with gentle touches of the soul.
    Yes, I'm in a hurry.
I don't intend to waste any of the leftover sweets.
My goal is to reach the end satisfied
and at peace with my loved ones
    and my conscience.
    We have two lives
and the second begins when you realise
    you only have one."

by Mario de Andrade (in translation)

That's very profound Fire and I'd say that the author has lived a life worth living.

    It's far from morbid

If any have had a walk in the woods at this time of year you might have seen this one, dog stinkhorn. It smells like dog poo.

  • I saw these under some roses the other day they covered about half a meter square. The photo is a close up of a clump, I didn’t have anything on me for size comparison but each clump was about the size of a 2p coin. The bigger clump in the photo would be about 2 coins together.

I just liked the delicate detail of them like fluffy feathers growing out of the ground!
It’d be nice to know what they are if anyone can ID them! 😁
