LB, have a nice day, and hope it will be positive new experience. I know, when we have similar actions at SM, that many people are more than ready to help. Btw, it's still boiling hot.
Rubee, hope you slept well last night.
Here will be one more day for stay in. I only need to clean my car inside, and possible outside. Now is time for tea.
Morning everyone, It's rained heavily overnight, but sun is trying to peek through the clouds. I did nod off eventually @Ladybird4 but quite tired this morning. Will have a slow morning doing unmentionables. Hope working in 'sco goes well and you get lots of donations. @Busy-Lizzie your meal sounds delicious 😋 @Ante1 have an easy day. @Rubee hope you sleep well.
Good Morning LB, Rubee, Ante & SGL and all to follow a lovely picture for the last day of June, LB I didn’t want to ask that question either 😂 Hope you have a successful day with bestie both at the Food Bank and encouraging donations at ‘Sco, it’s a good idea to have a guide list for preferred items hope it all goes well, Rubee It’s nice to wake at a time where you don’t need to rush, enjoy a more leisurely pace today, Ante 🥵 Stay in the cool as much as possible, SGL Sorry you are feeling tired this morning, good idea to have a gentle start to the day, Hope you have a good day everyone.
I slept for 9 1/2 hours, about 2 hours more than usual.
I had a look in one of my new bird boxes yesterday. There was a neat mossy nest in it that had obviously been used to raise a family 🙂
This afternoon I am going to see 3 of Son 2's children in the school "spectacle". Can't remember what you say in English - performance?
It's been raining, forecast is cool and wet. Not a gardening day. OH wants to go to the DIY shop. I heard that it was damaged by the hail and was shut for a couple of days.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi folks, nice sunny day here but not too hot. Don't like the sound of your weather at the moment @Ante1 Been harvesting potatoes, beetroot, radish and lettuce. Just enough to make a couple of meals for us this week. Sowed more radish and carrots too. Nothing exciting planned for today apart from getting toe nails painted and probably watching tennis. Have a good day everyone.
Afternoon all. Feeling more than a tad bleary-eyed with jet lag. Really need to cut the lawn weeds and do some dead heading but the flesh is weak. I'll get something done this afternoon but not sure how much.
Bags haven't turned up yet although they now seem to have made it to Heathrow. Goodness only knows when we'll get them. Just glad this is at the end of our holiday and not the start - that would have seriously mucked things up....
LB - hope all goes well with the foodbank etc
Ante - I'm very glad we've come home to some slightly cooler weather. Really don't like the heat and I remember the Croatian heat well - relentless.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Top bird I hope bio rests up and makes a good recovery, understandable mil being stressed. Ante try to wait to wash your car when it’s cooler. I’ve accidentally dropped my sizeable metal bin on my foot yesterday when lifting the rather full bin liner, lots of blood but managed to clean it and use antiseptic, hobbling a bit. Changed the dressing as was full of blood. Visited Rubee and oh and back to put foot up and watch tennis. Chive it’s a shame your son lost his trainers. Hazel I hope you have a better night and rest this afternoon.
Afternoon All, unmentionables done this morning and watered the garden pots this afternoon, Lovely long sleep for you Busy catching up on those much needed Zzzz’s, enjoy your grandchildren's school performance this afternoon it’s nice that parents are once again able to go & watch these, Yvie Sounds like a good harvest from your garden, it’ll make a few tasty meals using your home grown produce, Topbird Don’t push yourself too hard, you’re still recovering from the virus, as well as adjusting to the time difference and a long journey home it’s exhausting. Hope there is some good news soon about the luggage, Hazel Sorry to hear you’ve had a dreadful nights sleep and a tiring shopping trip this morning by the sounds of it. Good news about the new archway and Nelly Moser is on the way, hope she arrives in good health 🤞 Ooh Rosie that accident with the metal bin sounded so painful 😣 your poor foot, I hope you are resting it up this afternoon, Have a nice evening everyone.
In the end I'm not going to the school performance. It had been planned to be outside and a stage had been put up but it's raining and only 15° so it's going to be in the cantine, limited space and no stage so it's more parents only. It's only a small school.
Instead I'm going to watch Henry, grandson, just 7, play a tennis match on Saturday morning. He's Dordogne champion in the 8 to 10yr group.
We went to the local DIY place but it was shut because of hail storm damage, so we went to the huge place 30 mins away. Bought a selection of stuff, handrails to help OH on the steps in this house, battery lamps (one is for the larder cupboard), a mirror for my wardrobe door, a shoe rack etc. Also bought a battery operated Stihl strimmer as I' not strong enough anymore for the petrol one.
Just watched the tennis match with Katie Boulter. I rarely watch tennis but I really enjoyed it.

Good evening everyone. I hope that you all have had lovely days. Bestie, other volunteers and I were working non-stop this morning. We had several families to pack for and a young couple who believe it or not are living in a tent on the canal side. Our stock cupboards were very depleted at noon when we finished and then we had to get our order forms for replacement stock filled in and tidying up to do. We zipped back to Bestie's for a cuppa and something to eat and then we went back to 'sco in the village. It was interesting watching the customers entering the store. Most of them engaged with us in conversation as we explained why we were there and all took the little lists we had. We explained that we were only asking for one extra item from them but I was astounded and moved by the wonderful generosity of all who dropped off several items as they left the store. I had such a warm feeling. It was a perfect afternoon. We also had a collection box and many people donated cash as well and thanked us for what we were doing.
Hazel, your kind words nearly choked me up. Thank you so much for the lovely things you said. I was feeling quite emotional after doing my stint today and reading your post was the icing on top. I was very sorry to read that your night had been rather disturbed and I hope that you get a better rest tonight. Did your new arch come early? How nice that you have managed to get it put up, ready to take your Montana clemmie. Will you grow Nelly up the archway as well?
Busy, you have been living up to your name again. I was sorry you had to miss your Grandson's performance. I think those are so sweet with the small people taking it all so seriously. I do remember you telling us about Henry some time back and who knows - one day we may see him at Wimbledon one of these days.
Rosie, I had to say 'ouch' too when I read about you dropping the bin on your foot. I bet you have a cracking bruise tomorrow!
Well done Chive on getting all of the unmentionables done.
T'Bird, I hope that you have had some more positive news re your baggage. As you say, it is nightmarish to think what might have happened had this been at the start of you holiday. Those weeds and roses aren't going anywhere so just pace yourself.
Yvie, a lovely collection of fresh veggies there.
SGL, it heaved it down with rain whilst we were working in the Food Bank but stopped as we were leaving and the sun actually broke through.
Ante, when you have finished washing your car can you come and do mine please? Its filthy!
