Bindweed?

Sprung up  from nowhere and n the last week. Will I regret it if I don't pull it

    You will definitely regret it if you don’t dig it out.  Dig deep, don’t leave a bit of the root in or it will re grow. 
    It’s  a PITA if if gets a hold.

    yes, bindweed. Ideally get a hand fork under it and lift it out with the (probably tiny) piece of brittle white root it's growing from. If you pull it it will probably snap and it'll have grown back by the time you've walked in to the house and looked out of the window at it

    Put it like this when we started on this garden I took 24 sacks of roots of it to the tip from a 30 by 1 metre patch.

    I agree with every word Lyn says. Every tiny scrap needs getting rid of or you'll be in Palustris' position before you know it.

    It will take over an entire garden pretty quickly if you don't get rid, but the smugness of getting an entire root out is sublime. 😁

    I'm traumatised now! I've just been at it for about half an hour but no idea if I got it all. Fingers crossed.

    You'll soon know - I'm a bindweed removal expert, lol, I can dig the stuff up like an archaeologist with a skeleton, but there's always bits that pop up again. You'll be fine as long as you keep an eye on it and get any bits out when you notice them.
