no. Every day for me is filled with activity and purpose

The big advantage of the wind over the last couple of days is - it's strong enough that the damage done to my washing by the heavy showers, is nicely balanced out. As long as I time it right, it should be dry, and not need hanging up. Simple pleasures.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I had a quiet day planned, snoozing in the house and looking out at the rain.
Then the phone rang. The plumber/boiler man (who we had asked to come to fix a leaky radiator valve ten weeks ago) was saying that they had a spare day free and could they come to replace all the valves on all the radiators and drain down the system and service the boiler and if they couldn’t get it all done today could we live without heating and hot water until they could come back and finish the job hopefully tomorrow?
Yes, said OH.
So I now have two burly young men marching all over the house wielding spanners and thumping the radiators with large metal objects and shouting to each other from three floors away and carrying buckets full of dirty water up and down the stairs. Every window is open, as I am still trying to maintain some sort of an anti-Covid atmosphere and the wind and drizzle are a delight. We are pinned in the conservatory, the only room they don’t need to get into.
It sounds wonderful xx
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Today is definitely one of those days Uff. I was full of good intentions to get out and try to get the borders back under control from the weeds. Cold, blowing a gale.... Another couple of days won't make a difference.
Yes, I had one of those days last Monday when we had the sorry saga of the rotten fence post plus waiting for the plumber to come back with the additional spare part for the loo.
My day was considerably made better with the addition of a large glass of cold white wine!
Well, your answers have made me feel so much better and I no longer feel useless and inadequate. Fantastic. I'll tell you what I did. I decided to catch up on a couple of programmes that I recorded, lolling on the sofa, as you do, felt tired and woke up 2 hours later. In the afternoon for goodness sake! My only excuse is that I've just had the busiest 2 weeks imaginable - so I deserved it.
Yes FairyGirl, it's windier than a normal spring here too.
Oh well done pansyface and I'm pleased they did it in the day.
Decided to risk life and limb and go out to plant up some grapevine cuttings that a friend gave me and happened to spot the bucket of wild hazel nuts that I collected when I was on Mull last autumn and which I planted immediately after I got home. There are 6 young seedlings. Hopefully, more to come. Not a bad day after all.
Yes, they do when they are established but seem to take ages to flower and fruit. They will be planted in the woodland bit. I planted about 50 saplings 3 years ago in the hope that the red squirrels might come back but I think it's a forlorn hope and won't happen in my lifetime.
God's truth, I'm in and out like a fiddler's elbow this morning. I'm pleased to get the rain but impatient is my middle name. I've started a new but small project but drumming my fingers seems to be the order of the day. I don't know where summer has gone to either, it's flipping cold out there and windy so it's one of those days for me.
I decided to be optimistic today, and hung washing out @Uff, because it looked like it was going to brighten up, and there's enough wind if it's only showers. Oh well What was really annoying was, that when I was out for a walk earlier, and already a tad 'damp', some twat driving too fast, decided that the water flooding the road really wasn't a problem for anyone on the pavement.
A nice little present @pansyface. At least that's a drop of sunshine for you
